Our Prime Minister Rutte gave a press conference last Monday evening in which he announced that Code orange from now on applies for all countries in the world. That means that all non-essential travels till April 6th will be discouraged.
What does this mean for the sailing holiday that you have booked?
Sailing in the period up to May 16th
We give our guests that have booked in the period from April 25th till May 16th 2020 the option to convert their booking to another time this year or for the same period next year (2021 season). Rebooking can only be issued if there’s an official travel ban, that means that you can not rebook at this this moment. Because we have a very full season it might be difficult to convert your booking; but off course we will try. When rebooking falls in a more expensive price period, we’re sorry to bring those expenses into your account. Thank you for understanding.
If you don’t want to rebook but cancel your holiday we advise you to contact your own insurance company. Check whether the Corona virus and the status code orange is a valid reason. We know that in most cases the Corona virus is not a valid reason to cancel.
Sailing in the period after May 16th
We have to wait how the Corona epidemic evolves. At this moment it is too early to be able to say anything about the period after May 16th. Perhaps the epidemic will weaken off, then there is nothing to worry about. If the crisis then will not be over, we’ll inform you with an up to date message via our website and / or Facebook.
This whole new situation does also have financial consequences, both for our guests and ourselves. We are preparing the fleet for a new season and that brings costs with it. We kindly ask our guests to honour your payment obligations, as long as there is no official valid legal reason not to do so.
Despite all the notifications we hope to welcome you in beautiful Greece to enjoy a Sunny Sailing holiday.
Take care of each other,
Pim and Joyce and crew
March 15th 2020
The Government of Greece has agreed last night to a temporary ban on accommodations for tourists until April 30th due to the corona virus for the period from 15/03/2020 to 30/04/2020.
It makes it impossible now to look further ahead while the developments follow each other rapidly at this moment. We know, at present still not whether this has consequences for your planned sailing vacation in the above period.
We will keep you informed via our website and / or Facebook.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading across Europe and also Greece has confirmed cases of the coronavirus. We can imagine that this news raises questions before the start of your sailing holiday.
Obviously we follow new developments regarding the virus because Sunny Sailing values the health and safety of our guests and crew the most. We follow the updates of the Dutch and Greek authorities on regular basis. At this moment there are no travel warnings issued for Greece. However, the Greek government has taken national measures; there are controls at border crossings, airports and train stations and people with symptoms are taken into quarantine. If the Greek government will take additional measures, we will inform our guests via this page. Every day we follow the airline statements and as of today there are no limitations to fly to Lefkada.
We can not eliminate the unrest, but are working hard to make our fleet ready to sail. We look forward to a fantastic, but above all healthy season in 2020!
