Nikos Chardalias (Deputy Minister of Civil Protection in Greece) announced today an extension of the mandatory use of mouth masks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus from tomorrow, Wednesday 29 July. According to Nikos Chardalias, the situation in Greece is very good compared to other countries and it is the intention to keep it that way, hence these measures. These are the new rules, face masks are mandatory for the public from Wednesday
29 July in:
* All kinds of offices (banks, mail, etc.) and doctors’ posts
* Hairdressers and beauty salons
* Public transport (bus, boat, plane, metro)
* Butchers and bakers
Mister Chardalias added that from 1 Last July 2020 171,000 tests were conducted on 1.3 million tourists who came to Greece in recent months. Of these, 344 visitors were tested positive. The top 5 countries with the most infections reaching Greece came from 4 Balkan countries.
According to the minister, the situation should not cause panic, but also no complacency. The Rt index is at 0.4. This is much lower than in most European countries. (Source: The Greek Guide)
The Greek government has determined how the country will welcome travelers from July 1st 2020, perform the necessary diagnostic screenings and to protect everyone throughout the season. The Passenger Locator Form (PLF) is a key element in this planning. All travelers are required to fill in their PLF at least 48 hours before entering the country, detailing their departure point, the duration of previous stay in other countries and the address wree they will stay in Greece (Province of Ionia Nisia and point of entry Aktio, because Preveza is not listed).
